HEADPHONE INSTALLATIONS :
SOL REZZA : NTANGU : EXPERIMENTAL STORY TELLING : BAR UNICO, ST BENEDICT'S SQUARE
Among some tribes of the Republic of Chad, the month is lunar but the Sun governs the succession of day seasons and years. The same word (ntangu) means both sun and timE. If the Sun suddenly ceased to shine, all life would perish. The air would freeze, and Earth, transformed into an empty wilderness, into a ball of rock and ice, wander aimlessly through the interstellar darkne
RUSS YOUNG : DRILL HALL CAFÉ BAR
Abstract reinterpretation of his home town derived from audio sources and field recordings collected around Lincoln. Russ' debut album Common Pond was released in August on the Audiobulb label.
STUART RUSSELL : TRAIN SOUNDS : MUSEUM OF LINCOLNSHIRE LIFE
an electroacoustic piece based around sounds recorded at a london station and at a level crossing in hertfordshire. The sounds were granulated and used fo form synthesizer sounds whilst retaining the original field recordings. I wanted to create a train piece using the sounds of modern locomotives.
AMIE SLAVIN : YAN TAN TETHERA : MUSEUM OF LINCOLNSHIRE LIFE
A gentle exploration and celebration of traditional, grassroots methods for counting and categorising. My starting-point is the ancient system used by English hill farmers, to count sheep: Yan tan tethera methera pimp sethera lethera hovera dovera dick.
CHRISSIE CAULFIELD : MARKET HILL : ANGEL CAFÉ
Market Hill takes as its inspiration a large church at the top of a hill in the town where I grew up (Hedon in East Yorkshire). Being the only hill in a large flat area it gets very windy up there, I got a Mezzo-Soprano to sing along with the winds and bells which were recorded and treated separately.

SURROUND & LARGE FORMAT :
SONIC ARTS FORUM MEET-UP : BISHOP GROSSETESTE UNIVERSITY, FRIDAY 24th from 10:00
A selection of Electro-Acoustic & Acousmatic performances and diffusions from Peter K Rollings, Magda Stawarska-Beavan, Ian J Cole, Charles Matthews, Aiste Noreikait, Coryn Smethurst, Kamil Kowalczyk, Marco Mellis, Luca Nasciuti, Sunnestede & Mari Ohno.
MUSIC FOR 52 SPEAKERS : SOUNDSPIRAL : CASTLE LAWNS, SATURDAY 25th FROM 14:00
Three new live performances for Lincoln's own World-Class sound-system : Electric Violin and samples in Chrissie Caulfield's 'Ada' about the life and times of Ada Lovelace. Acousmatic performance from Stuart Russel in 'SpiralSounds' an experimental piece using field recordings of trans and Lincoln Cathedral's bells. Rounding-off the afternoon is 'Geschwindigkeitsbeschränkung' from Lincoln Producer Dan Doughty, AKA 'KosmischeBoy' - an ambient trip-hop chill-session using the Spiral's unique immersive playback environment to the full.
ROB FLINT : FLOCK MNEMONICS : SOUNDWALL : THE COLLECTION, THROUGHOUT SONOPHILIA
Made in response to the current Collection Exhibition - Danica Maier's 'Stitch and Peacock', 'Flock Mnemonics' examines the way humans understand and memorise bird calls through the use of 'mnemonics' that mimic the birds' cry in words, sometimes even naming birds such as 'Chiffchaff', 'Crow', or 'Tit' in imitation of their cry.
AMIE SLAVIN : OTHER RANKS : DRILL HALL CELLAR **
Amie's ambitious installation Other Ranks COMES to the Drill Hall following extended shows with the Royal Armories in Leeds and Portsmouth. 'Other Ranks' will remain on show throughout November, marking Remembrance Month in this First World War centenary year.

PERFORMANCE :
OBFUSCATION : DRILL HALL ABBEY ROOM **
Lincoln-based sound artist whose interactive soundscapes use brainwaves to drive of sound in the room.
DARK JANUARIES & RESON8 : ST MARY MAGDALENE, BAILGATE : FRIDAY 24TH FROM 14:00
Dark Januaries is a long-term collaboration between Lincoln-based composer / sound artist Duncan Chapman and Nottingham-based composer, singer and choreographer Isabel Jones. For Sonophilia, we're offering a rare chance to hear this collaborative partnership in Lincoln, and with the addition of the live spectral processing of Jeff Cloke AKA Reson8.
SIMON LE BOGGOT : THEREFORE : DRILL HALL LOOS, FROM THURSDAY 23rd
World Premiere : computer-manipulated perpetual poem 'Therefore', provides haunting sounds to the Drill Hall's loos throughout the festival.

** Other Ranks and Obfuscation will be open to the public at the following times during Sonophilia :
Thurs 23rd: 2pm - 4pm
Fri 24th: 3pm to 6pm, with artists' meet-and-greet from 5pm to 7pm.
